David Crane is a legislative, public policy and political strategist with a reputation for achieving success on a broad range of high profile and complex public policy issues including energy, financial services, healthcare, intellectual property, tax and trade.
During the 2016 presidential campaign Mr. Crane played a key role in the creation of the Trump Leadership Council, which organized 100 of America’s most prominent and successful business leaders across all sectors of the US economy to provide public policy briefings and support to then GOP nominee and now President Donald Trump.
Mr. Crane serves as a founding partner at TG&C Group, Quadripoint Strategies LLC which he also founded and as Senior Counsel to Watts Partners, a government affairs firm run by former US Congressman J.C. Watts.
In public services Mr. Crane served as Senior Policy Advisor to Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott where he developed and implemented floor strategies on a broad range domestic issues. For his work for Republican Congressional Leadership in the wake of the 911 attacks Steven Brill’s critically acclaimed book “After” declared Mr. Crane a “Key Player” in the US government’s response to the terrorist attacks of 911.
Prior to joining the Majority Leader’s staff Mr. Crane worked on the professional staff of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. In this capacity he served as a Senior Policy Advisor to Chairman of the Committee Senator John McCain. Mr. Crane also served as a Senior Advisor to Senator McCain’s 2000 and 2008 presidential campaigns.
Before joining Senator McCain’s staff Mr. Crane served as Legislative Assistant and then Legislative Director for Senator Dan Coats (Director of National Intelligence in the Trump Administration) and worked in opposition research at the National Republican Senatorial Committee under Chairman Senator Phil Gramm during the 1994 election cycle when the GOP secured control of the Senate.
Prior to coming to Washington Mr. Crane worked on a number of statewide political campaigns in Indiana and held private sector positions in commercial real estate and broadcasting. Mr. Crane is a 1988 graduate of Ball State University where he earned a B.A. in Political Science.
David was born and raised in the town of Washington, in Daviess County Indiana (population 12,114) and now lives and works in the Washington, District of Columbia metro area (population 6,131,977). This means David was born, raised and has lived in Washington, DC for virtually his entire life.
