Industry supports over 110,00 direct jobs nationwide

Secretary Foxx Speaking at the Congressional Shipbuilding Caucus breakfast.WASHINGTON (NOV. 3)– Today, U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx announced updated data on the U.S. shipbuilding boom and accompanying jobs numbers. The report, prepared by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration (MARAD), found that the U.S. shipbuilding and repair industry supports jobs in all 50 states with a total of more than 110,000 jobs nationwide and contributes $37.3 billion dollars to the national GDP. 

Secretary Foxx made the announcement at the Congressional Shipbuilding Caucus breakfast, which is co-chaired by Congressman Rob Wittman (R-VA) and Congressman Joe Courtney (D-CT) as part of a series that is co-sponsored by the SCA and the Navy League of the United States.
